The phleboscintigraphic intraosseous pattern has been determined in a consecutive study of 73 patients suffering from progressive osteoarthritis of the knee. Using red blood cells labelled with 99mTc, the authors performed dynamic intraosseous phleboscintigraphy on patients with degenerative osteoarthropathy of the knee. Statistical analysis of phleboscintigraphic intraosseus data shows a significant correlation between the venous alterations of the superior tibial metaphysis and the severity of the cartilage lesions observed during surgical arthtrotomy.
